HP4000 B&W laser printer

Squid is the standard printer for text and black & white figures/pictures. The printer will accept A4 or smaller paper as well as overhead sheats. The printer has a duplex option which allows you to print on both sides of a page. Macintosh and Windows NT/9x users should install the HP4000 printer driver to make optimal use of it (get the installation CD from room 6.48).

You can print from a Linux workstation as follows:

Print one sided              : print simplex filename
Print double sided (default) : print filename
The print script will auto-detect the following file formats and print them appropriately: Plain text, PostScript, Adobe acrobat, unix man-pages & html. You can also directly print images in the gif and xpm formats. If you want to print on acetate sheets, be SHURE to get laser printer grade sheets. The photo copying quality sheets will give bad image quality.

QMS color printer

You can use the QMS printer by adding either of the following keywords to the print command: color, colour, casino, qms, or QMS. Other options also work although you cannot print double sided.
